Our guest for the evening was Stephen Cooper who demonstrated making natural edge vases. In the final stages of turning a thin goblet Stephen illuminates the inside with a lamp. The amount of light shining through the wood indicates the thickness of the material. The final image below shows the video screen - the light can be seen through the wood.
