Diary for August 2004

Len Grantham stood in for the set demonstrator (due to illness) and
demonstrated lattice decoration using his newly developed lattice tool.

"It may be August but a good turnout for the holiday month"
"After forming a simple lattice lid, Len uses a home made jig to create the two halves of a sphere for a lattice ball
"Using a home made cup chuck to hold each half of the ball for inside hollowing prior to cutting through with the lattice tool"

"The lattice tool, available only from Len at £8 each, has a shoulder set to control the depth of cut. This enables the turner to produce a neat lattice with the same cut depth on both sides. The tool is made of HSS and is easy to sharpen"

"Steve Wright from Elston Sawmill was present with a good range of timber ready for the lathe"
